Koloa Travel Guide
Welcome to Koloa!
Located on the south shore of Kauai, sunny Koloa is just 12 mi (19 km) away from the Lihue Airport, and just minutes from Poipu Beach. Koloa was once home to the area's first sugar plantation. Today, area residents remember that time in their history by celebrating it with an event called Koloa Plantation Days. For an entire week in mid-summer, locals gather together and enjoy various activities and entertainment. Koloa has a small population but offers numerous recreational opportunities. Visitors and locals alike enjoy activities such as scuba diving, hiking, surfing, sailing, swimming, fishing, snorkeling, and golfing at the Poipu Bay Golf Course. Koloa Heritage Trail is a not to be missed attraction, as travelers will experience 5 million years of exploration. The 10 mi (16 km) trail highlights the history, archaeology, culture and natural history of the Koloa area and its people. Dining, shopping and visiting the many unique and eclectic art galleries are also fun ways to spend time in Koloa.Hotels & Motels
